About this deal

I want to have time to savour a book, enjoy reading it and because I have enjoyed it so much, share it with you dear reader. With a pinch of sorrow, a cup of friendship, and a dash of romance all mixed together, The 12 Days of Christmas is a beautifully written festive story. Introduce children to the traditional song, The Twelve Days of Christmas, in this beautiful new book, featuring illustrations by Britta Teckentrup.

Perfect for use with Corinne's 12 Days of Christmas Felt Bundle which contains all the felt you need to make all 13 decorations. Traditionally, the 12 Days of Christmas book features lords a-leaping and gold rings, but in this version you’ll find snowmen singing and elves up to mischief! To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Celebrate the magic of Christmas time with this well-loved traditional poem, The Twelve Days of Christmas, beautifully illustrated by Laura Hawthorne.

Christmas has always been a sad time for young widow Holly Brown, so being asked to look after a remote house on the Lancashire moors is the perfect excuse to forget about the festivities. A treat for those who love country life, folklore and traditional Christmas themes given a fresh folk feel. For years I didn’t have any – I worked as a cook aboard charter yachts in the Caribbean when I was younger, and it put me off cooking for a while. It seemed like a refuge far from what troubles Freya and it was the place she needed to rest and recuperate as going back to Paris considering the way she left didn’t seem that much of an option. The richly coloured and intricately detailed pictures are a joy to behold and readers young and old will be captivated and delighted by the developing story. It’s a cracker of a read which provides the perfect slice of escapism which pulls you into the plot from the very beginning and leaves you entranced and even more excited for the most wonderful time of the year than perhaps you already are.

Forced to sleep under the same roof as her handsome neighbour Finn, Freya realises she's going to need a distraction—fast! She is one of the most talented and distinctive illustrators in the children's book world and regularly exhibits her work at various galleries. Everyone knows the 'Twelve days of Christmas', but not as rewritten by John Julius Norwich in this delightful correspondence, which records the daily thank-you letters from one increasingly bemused young lady to her unseen admirer. I smiled through most of this book at the antics of the characters and I even laughed out loud a lot. We’ve taken everyone’s favourite festive song and given it a playful twist so it’s all about one special family as they get ready for Christmas and decorate the tree.

The streets might be twinkling with fairy lights, but after the recent loss of her mother, she's never felt less festive. So much thought and attention to detail went into all aspects of this story and that’s what it makes it so special and an all-round excellent book. The plot is sweet but not saccharine and handles a variety of serious issues with sensitivity and good humour. There is also a special bonus at the end of the book to satisfy your taste buds which I absolutely adored! Her other books include The King of Christmas, Carol Ann Duffy’s 2016 Christmas poem, published by Picador, and The Night Flower, published by Big Picture Press. Sabuda’s trademark white pop-ups bring a whole new life to this enchanting classic, with something to marvel at on every page. All these people help Freya learn lots of life lessons and help make this book such a lovely, engaging and engrossing read. Debbie Macomber, in her letter to the reader tells us that inspiration for the book came about when somebody pinched her parking spot at the mall.
