About this deal

There are five major steps in the assembly process: (1) Replace adult bike axle with FollowMe axle attachment, (2) Add the spindle extensions to the child bike’s front axle, (3) Adjust the FollowMe clamping plate to the wheel size of the child’s bike, and (4) Attach clamp to child’s down tube. Attaching and detaching the coupling was a bit tricky for me at first, and in the first month I tipped my bicycle twice while attaching, but with practice it is now effortless.

As you'll see below, I didn't want to deal with the distributor (Clever Cycles) to get a replacement. It only takes a few moments to attach the frame to the adult bike: a little force to open it wide, then drop it onto the axle nuts, and it’s easy to turn thumb screws to secure it. Ideally, we’d like to be able to switch off, each of us occasionally pulling the trailer or the tandem. If you’re looking to tow your kids by bike, you have several different options, each suited for different purposes. The first to test out the FollowMe Tandem was my youngest son, who at almost four years is keen to get on his wheels at any opportunity. The eyelets on this particular bike (for attaching racks or mudguards) are very close to its rear axle.

Also, his bike doesn’t have a transmission and thus his speed is limited by how fast he can pedal… Cycling the legendary racetrack “Nurburgring” in Germany together with my 5-year-old son Benjamin. One thing to note about those two quick release pins… when you take them off, you could easily lose them. In the last year, we’ve tested the entry-level Weeride Co-Pilot tag along bike, the high-end Burley Kazoo tag along bike, and the Trail Gator Tow Bar. Up to now, Chris has been using it to take our 3 year old, T, around town but we haven’t had the opportunity to test it off road, or for me (Karen) to have a go.When your kid gets active and starts moving on his bike or help you by pedaling together with you, you may notice a bit of that movement interfering with your riding, but for me, it never was a problem. There appears to be a dedicated FollowMe distributor here in the UK, but they have no information on the "fake axle" extension that I can see. So, I bought a one-foot nylon cord and a plastic clip from REI, and these have given me a year of faithful service. The poorly designed manual suggests they need to talk to their swedish buddies at Ikea because what they really need is a one picture installation diagram, not an excessive manual in all languages that is so detailed, you can't figure out what the objective is. That is, if the front wheel is secured to the front forks with a quick release skewer or allen key bolts.

Normally he takes pride of place on a front mounted seat, so imagine his surprise when I turn up at preschool with an Islabike hitched up at the back and not a front seat in sight. As my rear wheel is quick release, it’s a case of removing the original skewer and replacing it with one with additional attachments. I don’t know yet whether this will be a problem or not, I’ll see how it is once we’ve been out a few times. I've been using a Kangaroo wee-ride, which I've found to be excellent - far more stable than some rear-mounted seats I've tried, as the C of G stays central.Würde mir faltbare Streben wünschen, damit man das Teil etwas kleiner verstauen kann unterwegs (hinten im Kinderhänger). I had hoped to attach it to my Kona MinUte, but because of the location and size of the inbuilt pannier rack, it wasn’t possible. My ultimate goal is to give YOU helpful advice and make it easy to spend quality time together with YOUR kids and hence establish a rock solid connection with them through play and by having FUN together. It take a while to be fitted properly, but once done you can be assured that your child bike is not leaning nor it will detached.

It didn't solve my problem of derailleur interference on my specific mech given the entry point of the shifter cable. As the name suggests, it allows the two bikes to operate as a tandem, a hinge between the bikes preventing their combined length becoming unwieldy.
