About this deal

I hope that most of us won’t be in the positions that some of the interviewees were in, there are lessons to be learned about having better conversations with those we disagree with. He currently presents a daily daytime show on BBC 5 Live, and his unique interviewing style was recently recognised at the BBC Radio and Music Awards where he won Interview of the Year.

Part how-to and part manifesto, Let’s Talk is Nihal’s accessible, anecdotal and invigorating toolkit to having better conversations with anyone, any time. The most valuable conversations themselves are spaces where the participants give over a part of themselves to each other to explore, illuminate and connect" Nihal makes communication natual and accessible to all. Even the professional interviews are very superficial, no insight of what sits behind them apart from job title and area of work. Instead this is quite a self-centred and self-congratulatory tract based on conversations with other people. Whilst as a society we can benefit from instant messaging through text and WhatsApp, we are primed to hear rather than see.

This book offers an insightful, yet not judgemental, analysis of the state of conversation today and presents a range of practical conversational tools, all grounded in real experience. She previously worked as The Guardian's women's editor, a features commissioning editor on g2 and as a reporter for the Sunday paper, The Observer.

And I think thats what the Author wanted to get across from the book and they suceeded surprisingly well. P66[ Elizabeth Stokoe ]- ‘an effective conversation is one that generates the least misunderstanding, the least friction , the least need to do the thing again, And the least tension and friction and misunderstanding as you make progress together across the arc of interaction.Eliminate negativity and change your life with best-selling author, happiness expert and life coach Domonique Bertolucci.

Really enjoyed the writing style, but it felt like this was an autobiography packaged as something else. In the post-covid world where you are more likely to converse over social media, Teams or chat apps we are losing the art of conversation, Nihal argues.

For those who aren’t aware, Nihal Arthanayake is a Radio DJ for BBC Radio 5 Live and the host of the Headliners podcast.
