About this deal

It depends if you're going for something practical or visually stunning. The easiest option is a Pyrex container, 7x11 for multiple layers or 9x13 for just one layer of each ingredient. You can use a large single dish, as I have done here, or you can make approximately 8 individual smaller dishes. The number of smaller dishes you can make will obviously depend on the size of your dishes.

Simply cut them to fit with a serrated knife. Kate's Memories of Peppermint Crisp Pudding and Christmas

Mini Peppermint Crisp tarts/cups - Using crushed biscuits combined with melted butter (use tart base measurements below), line muffin pan holes with the crumb mixture to form the 'cups'.

Butter –melted butter is used to bind the base together. I recommend using real, unsalted butter rather than margarine or dairy spreads. You’ll need to chill the base for at least 30 minutes before adding the peppermint layer. the peppermint filling I first made these Chocolate Peppermint Crisps for a Christmas Dinner table where they accompanied a bag of homemade shortbread. What equipment do I need ? Add the remaining filling on top of the biscuit crumb layer. Place in the fridge for a minimum of 4 hours. It really is at it's best if you leave it overnight.Dark chocolate – callets/drops are best as they are much easier to temper. I like to use Callebaut Belgian Chocolate as it’s ready tempered, making it easier to work with. Callebaut chocolate doesn’t contain palm oil and is sustainably sourced.

The vegetable oil is to make the chocolate a little softer for slicing and eating. You could substitute coconut oil if you prefer. Choose your vessel depending on how many layers you'd like in your tart. Kate's aunt, who contributed this recipe, used two bread tins. Others choose a 9x13 Pyrex pan. Still others choose individual serving glasses. If you choose bread pans, line them with plastic to help get pudding out of tin.

Coffee Slice - the perfect no-bake, sweet treat match for your next cup of coffee! A melt and mix coffee and biscuit base with chocolate and coffee icing, then set in the fridge. Despite often being known as after dinner mints, these versatile treats are delicious any time of the day. Use an electric hand mixer or whisk attachment on a stand mixer to beat this into soft peaks Orley Whip Substitute Option 2: Cool Whip

Make your own - Combine finely chopped/grated milk chocolate with finely chopped/grated mint candy cane or peppermint candies. It needs to be chilled for at least 2-3 hours before it is sliced. Time in the fridge allows the slice to set and firm up, ready for slicing. Attempting to slice it too soon can cause it to crumble. Tin of caramel condensed milk - You can buy this ready-made in the shop. The best-known and widely available brand is Nestle's Caramel Treat. Alternatives to Nestle's Caramel Treat: With layers of biscuits, caramel cream and crushed Peppermint Crisp bars, this simple no-bake fridge dessert is delicious AND easy!

Melt the butter, cocoa powder, golden syrup and sugar together in a large saucepan over a low heat, stirring occasionally. Don't allow the mixture to become too hot. Once everything has melted and is smooth, tip in the crushed biscuits and stir well. Please note that the nutrition informationis based on the slice being divided into 18 pieces, with one piece being one serve. The nutritional information is an estimate only and does not take into account any additional toppings or sides served with the slice. However, for Americans, the good news about the caramel layer (which you may or may not choose to mix with whipped cream) is that Kate's Aunt Audrey says the specialty product is actually less than optimal. Her preferred approach is to make the caramel layer by boiling Sweetened Condensed Milk, which is widely available in the US.
